Bolivia has impressed me in so many ways, from its amazing cultural traditions (for example, this museum for its history of textiles), to its fabulous food (on a global stage, for example, Gustu), and overall its stunning natural beauty.
When we had the chance to tour the Uyuni Salt Flats I was particularly struck by gorgeous natural repetition as far as the eye can see (as above). My first thought was honeycomb! And my second my nearest tie to biomimicry and honeybees Katherine Collins. She pointed me to this fascinating piece in Nautilus explaining how and why hexagonal patterns appear in nature. Isn’t the world an amazing place?!
