Hello again! It’s been a long while since I last posted here, or really gave an update on our travels. Time for me to fix that. 😀
After we left South America back in July we headed to Ethiopia for a couple of weeks. There, we encountered quite possibly the best coffee of our lives in Addis Ababa
and deepened our love of Ethiopian cuisine, characterized by wonderfully spiced dishes eaten by hand, pinched with spongy injera bread. Do find a place near you to sample it!
From Addis we journeyed to Lalibela to see the famous rock-hewn churches. Amazing!
My partner wrote a wonderfully detailed post about the miraculous, under-visited structures of Lalibela here (link).
After travels through Ethiopia we flew to southern Kenya for some time on the beach. The mix of Arab, Indian, and African cultures was gorgeous and delicious in Mombasa
and the beaches around Diani Beach were paradisiacal white sand, turquoise waters, camels!, and exquisite fresh fish.
We spent a few days in Nairobi, delighted to find cosmopolitan energy and Western comforts
before heading on a month’s safari through Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Tanzania
Concluding the safari tour in Zanzibar, we left from Dar es Salaam with a day layover in South Africa en route to Madagascar. We spent over three weeks in Madagascar enjoying charming Antananarivo and crossing the country by land to see wildlife in Ranomafana and around Morondava.
We left Africa at the end of September and made our way to India to begin several months of traveling through Asia. We are currently in India, about to wrap up our second of two month-long stays, sandwiching a few weeks in Nepal. More on that to come!
