We did a several day trek in the Annapurna Conservation area of Nepal in late October, early November. The area we were trekking was at relatively low altitude (highest point was 3200m) and populated every couple of hours by small villages of a couple to dozen structures.
While the ‘teahouses’ in those remote villages tend to be quite basic, and often very cold, we were pleasantly surprised to always have hot showers. We can only say the same for maybe half the places we’ve stayed this year (brrr)!
How did they do it up there in a little remote village? we wondered.
And then… we spotted these genius solar water tanks soaking up the sun from their scenic perches.
We need some of these back home in our rooftop water towers (hello, iconic rooftops of Brooklyn!).
Is your city adopting solar? Are you? I’d love to hear about it.
